Tagawa Gardens Blog

Think outside the box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day!

I would never turn down a box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day, especially if it’s dark chocolate. But if your valentine might appreciate something a little more unique, Tagawa Gardens can help!

With Valentine’s Day coming up this Sunday, let’s start with color in mind… and plants that look exotic, but are actually very low maintenance.

Introducing bromeliads!

You’ve probably seen bromeliads as you wander through Tagawa’s…  and maybe stopped to admire them…  but then just kept walking, assuming they were way too hard to take care of.  Wrong!

Both the flowers and the foliage of bromeliads can be real showstoppers!  Not only are these stunning plants easy to care for, but the flowers can also last for weeks or months before the “mother” plant sends up babies and begins to fail.  Those babies or “pups” can eventually produce a flower of their own and the process begins all over again.  Or maybe your valentine would like more conventional greenery…

We have new houseplants arriving weekly!

If your valentine is houseplant crazy… or you think they might like to be… Tagawa’s foliage department is unpacking fresh shipments of plants every week.

The staff in our Foliage Department would be happy to guide you to plants for high light, low light any situation in between to match the growing conditions your valentine has to offer.  Bringing a bit of Mother Nature indoors is always a welcome gift!

Faux foliage?  At Tagawa’s?

Yes, and it’s convincing!  Assorted foliage “plants” that echo the real thing!

Having a houseplant collection doesn’t get any easier than these faux varieties.  Your valentine can add beautiful touches of green…. without ever reaching for the watering can!

Who says packets of seeds aren’t romantic?

The pandemic triggered a huge interest in vegetable gardening last season, and that enthusiasm shows no signs of easing.  If thoughts of a Victory Garden tickle your valentine’s fancy, why not beat the rush and bundle up a lovely bunch of vegetable seeds to create a very special gift.

Tagawa’s seed racks are loaded with hundreds of veggie choices… and flowers, too!  Whether your valentine is a novice seed-starter or a veteran, Tagawa’s has a full array of seed-starting trays and supplies to make the job fun and easy.

And always a winner… a Tagawa Gift Card!

Who wouldn’t want the purr-fect gift for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion? A Tagawa Gift card opens the door to any merchandise in stock!  Plants, tools, bird-feeding supplies, beautiful pots, or items from our Gift Shop.

Just come to Guest Services at Tagawa’s or phone your order in ahead of time and we’ll have your gift card ready for you!  A happy and loving Valentine’s Day to all!
